Where to Eat in Bucerias, Mexico [Recommended by my Mom]

Bucerias is a small beach resort town located near Nuevo Vallarta on Banderas Bay. The little town is popular among tourists as a place to get off the resort, check out local shops and markets, listen to fantastic live music and eat some authentic and delicious local cuisine.

My mom has been traveling to Bucerias and Puerto Vallarta for years and over the years she has tried lots of the local restaurants and knows all the good places to go. So I asked her to help me put together this guide of the best places to eat. Some authentic Mexican places and some just other great restaurants (you can’t always eat tacos can you?). I’ve eaten at a few of these places but my mom is definitely more well-versed in the best spots. Here is what she recommends.

Dugarel Plays

With its prime location on the beach, Dugarel Plays is reasonably priced, provides excellent service and serves amazing fresh seafood dishes. I had the shrimp fajitas (photographed above). Dugarel Plays is usually busy so it’s hit and miss whether you’ll snag a table. You can call and make reservations in advance though if you don’t want to risk it!

Karen’s Place

This is one of the best meals I’ve had in Mexico. Karen’s Place is also located off the beach and serves a variety of delicious dishes. My mom loves the avocado and shrimp salad (photographed above) but my personal favourite I had there a few years ago was their fresh tuna. Karen’s does get busy but you can make a reservation by calling them or contacting them on Facebook.

Mr & Mrs Fish

Head to this cute joint in Bucerias for the best fish and chips in town at a reasonable price and crowd-pleasing margaritas! What more could you need?

Taco Linda’s

Bring your own booze and enjoy amazing tacos and service for a reasonable price. Taco Linda’s is owned by a local Mexican family so you definitely get an authentic experience.

Chin-Gon Asian Flavors

If you’re sick of Mexican food and looking for something different, Chin-Gon serves Asian-inspired dishes such as noodles, curry, stir-fry, pad thai and more. They don’t accept reservations and take cash only.

Armando’s Place

My mom swears this place has the best shrimp tacos. However, if you’re looking for nontraditional eats too, they also serve mouthwatering pasta dishes and pizza.

YoYo Mo’s

Another place that is great if you just can’t eat anymore tacos and Mexican food. YoYo Mo’s is known to have some of the best pizza in Bucerias. Plus, you can catch most major sports on the TVs here.

Little Bull Restaurant

A small restaurant with only a few tables but don’t let the small size turn you away. The Little Bull serves some of the most authentic, delicious Mexican food in Bucerias.

Mi Lola

Cute, colourful and quaint spot, Mi Lola has friendly staff, funky decor and great pasta and pizza dishes. Their margaritas don’t disappoint either.

BONUS! Luna Luna

When I did my cooking class at My Mexican Kitchen the owner, Travis said one of their favourite spots to eat was Luna Luna. Although I’ve never been and either has my mom, I thought I’d put it out there for those looking for another great spot to eat. People rave about their brunch and lunch!
