Surprise! It’s not another post about travel. Today I’m doing something a little different because if you know me, I’m not always traveling. I maintain a full-time career and life in Toronto, Canada. Although I work full-time my mind is always on where my next trip will be and even though Toronto is an expensive city to live, I’m always looking for ways to save money for my next adventure. How do you think I afford to travel so much? Anyway, I’ve always been an advocate for making food at home and packing a lunch for work. I think people spend SO much money on eating out and in a city like Toronto where food options are endless and delicious, it’s easy to be tempted. So over the years I’ve found some go-to recipes that are easy, budget-friendly and satisfy me enough that I’m not tempted to buy lunch or dinner out. Here are some of my favs off Pinterest!
My sister sent me this recipe on Pinterest and it is incredibly easy and tasty. Takes under an hour to make from start to finish and refrigerates well so it’s perfect for making ahead for lunches for the week!
A quick and easy breakfast favourite. I discovered this recipe when I was trying to figure out what I could make with things I had in my fridge. It’s super quick to make and really tasty!
Lately I’ve really been into brewing my own kombucha. I took a workshop a few months ago and have been making it since. The best part of kombucha brewing is you can experiment with flavours and this is by far my favourite flavour combo yet. Plus buying kombucha is super expensive and it’s actually incredibly cheap and easy to make yourself.
A yummy summer fav when you’re looking for something to quench your thirst and refresh yourself on a hot summer day! Super easy too.
Another lunch favourite. I love to make these and pair them with some rice crackers and it’s super easy to whip up for lunch or even a snack!
I’ve made this recipe for a few guests I’ve had at my house before and it’s a crowd pleaser. You can’t really go wrong with any recipe that includes goat cheese and pasta!
I love easy curry recipes. Enough said! Plus this one is super budget friendly.
This is a quick and easy recipe if you’re serving a bunch of people for breakfast. Basically you throw the basic ingredients all in a casserole dish and cook. A crowd pleaser and delicious!
Since my family always makes homemade sausages I’m always looking for new ways to use them other than sausage on a bun and this dish is one of my go-tos.
When you’re always on the go, casserole dishes can be a great way to make a healthy and delicious meal in bulk. This dish is one of my favs for preparing lunches for the week.
Make this dish in only 15 minutes with fresh asparagus and walnuts that give it the crunch. This simple recipe is one of my favourite pasta dishes!
I love myself a good slow cooker recipe and this tikka masala dish is one of my favs. I’ll make it with some basmati rice and buy garlic naan from the freezer section and it’s the perfect dish to make for lunches or dinners for the week!
Can you tell I love pasta from this list? This gnocchi dish is great in the spring or summer when you don’t want an incredibly heavy tasting pasta dish. I love the mix of vegetables!
One of my all-time favourite recipes is this simple risotto. I’ve made this ahead for lunches before but it also makes a great side dish or stand alone meal depending what you’re into. Definitely one worth pinning!
I really thought this recipe would be super bland and boring like most detoxing soups but it actually is so flavourful and delicious. I’d make it even if I wasn’t trying to detox!
