Today we slept in a bit since our room has no window to let the sun wake us up. We got up and had breakfast at our hostel which was free and delicious. I had a banana pancake and fruit. For once a complimentary breakfast that isn’t just bread and that’s it.
We then had a tuk tuk meet us at about 9:45am to take us to the pier to catch our long boat across the Mekong River to go up the steps to Wat Chomphet, which has a beautiful view of Luang Prabang. We also could go down in the caves and explore a bit which was a little creepy but neat. After that we caught our boat again to head down the Mekong River to the area where the Kuang Si Waterfalls are. Once we arrived we got on the traditional village transportation, a flatbed truck and headed up to where the waterfalls were. The waterfalls were absolutely beautiful and lucky for us we arrived where there weren’t TOO many tourists.
After swimming and exploring the waterfalls we headed back down in the flatbed truck to our boat, where we had beer and snacks waiting for us for our journey back to the Luang Prabang pier. It was a beautiful day to be at the falls and on the boat.
Tonight we are going to try and find the night buffet which is a street off of the main night market street that has an all you can eat buffet for $1 US. Then we will be off to bed early as we plan to wake up bright and early for the monks alms giving.
