Sisterhood of the World Award

Thank you to Tiffany of A Girl And Her Passport for the nomination of the Sisterhood of the World Award for bloggers. For this award, Tiffany has asked me to answer the below questions and then purpose 10 questions to other travel bloggers that I love out there! Without further ado here are my answers…

Why do you like to travel?

I love to travel because I love to experience and learn about different cultures. I also love how travel just completely throws me out of my comfort zone, which can be scary, yet exhilarating and rewarding.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

That’s tough. I’ve always been a person who thinks there are a lot of things that separate a vacation and a trip. So for a favourite vacation spot, I’d say the Thai islands, for a favourite place to take a trip, I’d say Cambodia, I absolutely loved it there!

What is the most unique thing you have eaten on a trip?

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten anything too wild. I’ll try everything once, but I have a few exceptions, like bugs for example! The weirdest probably was either alligator in Florida or frog legs in California.

Do you have a favourite piece of travel gear?

My backpacks. I have 3 that I use regularly. One that is just a small school bag that I use for weekend trips, one that is really big for long-term travel, and one that is a bit smaller that I used recently on my trip to Southeast Asia and loved it. I’m definitely not a suitcase girl!

Do you prefer budget or luxury travel?

100% budget travel! I don’t feel like you get the true experience by going completely the luxury way, I mean people do it, but I love the concept of traveling on a budget. I don’t have a lot of money, so I’d rather the money I do have for travel go further, and get to get more for my buck! If I did luxury travel, I wouldn’t be able to see as much of the world as I have!

What was the coolest hotel/apartment you have stayed in while traveling and do you have pictures on you blog?

I’m not sure about the coolest, as I always stay in hostels, but one of my favourite is Mad Monkey in Siem Reap. They had great facilities, a cool bar, and an awesome pool!

What is your favorite historic place?

I love Rome! There’s so much history, and I love how you can just walk down the street and see something like the Colosseum. It also helps that my family is Italian, so being in Italy in general to me is amazing! I love seeing the traditions that are family has in the actual country of our heritage.

What is your dream vacation?

I would love to go to New Zealand. It has been on my bucket list for a while but I need a lot of time off to do it, and a lot of money, so it hasn’t been obtainable yet.

How do you sleep on a plane?

Short answer—I don’t. I’m 5’8 and I never have enough room to get comfortable. Even on long flights, I still can’t manage to fall asleep for extended periods of time.

What is your biggest travel pet peeve?

My pet peeve is people that are very ignorant in other countries and are oblivious to the customs and culture around them. I can’t stand people who don’t do their research or take cues from the people around them. It’s so disrespectful!

My Nominations:

Justin Plus Lauren
The Brave Little Cheesehead
There Goes Gypsy
Pack Me To
Don’t Forget To Eat

My Questions:

1. If you could go back to one place you’ve already been tomorrow, where would you go?
2. What was your more embarrassing travel moment?
3. What’s one piece of advice you have for someone who has never travelled before?
4. What kind of travel do you prefer to do? (Eg. Budget, luxury, adventure, etc.)
5. What was the most memorable meal you ever had on a trip?
6. Where are you planning to go next?
7. What inspired you to start your blog?
8. What has been your biggest struggle with blogging?
9. What are 3 things you could never travel without?
10. Do you prefer a vacation or a trip? Or do you think there’s a difference?

Well done for voting 100% budget travel 😀 I agree that you REALLY get to see a country this way. However, once in a while, I wouldn’t mind scoring champagne in a jacuzzi: just once a year would be lovely hehe
